At this point, the kernel was getting stuck while running some code to set up video and I/O memory. XNU from this era makes assumptions about where video and I/O memory can be, and reconfigures Block Address Translations (BATs) in a way that doesn’t play nicely with the Wii’s memory layout (MEM1 starting at 0x00000000, MEM2 starting at 0x10000000).
